A few words from the team.
Red Bull Holden Racing Team
Jamie Whincup – Car #88
“I’m happy with the result. Coming in from the test day and yesterday, I didn’t think it was possible, but the engineers did a great job. They’ve kept tuning the car and moving forward all day, just making it better and better which definitely made us competitive. We pushed hard in the qualifying session, we are up the front and starting second last for the shootout. I’m very happy but tomorrow is payday and we need to focus on that.”
Shane van Gisbergen – Car #97
“It’s freaking hot and just tough. The car is getting a little better and we are in the shootout so it’s an opportunity for us to have another practice to work it out but it’s just hot. We will go through the data tonight and try to work out what we are lacking as we still have a couple of things lacking and a few things to find. The best preparation for tomorrow will be getting in the ice bath just before the race!”
Erebus Penrite Racing
David Reynolds – Car #9
“Today didn’t really go to plan, even though we made the top ten. I think my car is a lot better than where we qualified.
“I’m doing a bad job at two corners so I’m costing myself a fair bit of time, so if I can sort that out id be a lot happier. We did our job though and made it into the Shootout and that’s all we needed to do so we can jump up a few spots ahead of the race tomorrow.”
Anton de Pasquale – Car #99
“Qualifying didn’t really happen for me, I completed the first part of the lap a lot better than I had been this week, but I made a mistake at Turn 8. It’s really disappointing to do something like that, I just made a mistake and there was a big result.
“The guys and girls will work hard tonight, and we’ll be able to get back out tomorrow. The car has been fast all weekend so although it’ll be a tough start to the race now, we should be able to push forward.
Brad Jones Racing
Nick Percat – Car #8
“It’s great to get the National Pharmacies Supercar into the Top Ten Shootout tomorrow, it’s my best qualifying result here so obviously the closest I’ve been to pole position in Adelaide. Tomorrow we get to have another shot at it.”
“I’m super pumped with how the National Pharmacies Supercar has been going, we’ve moved forward all day and the team have worked really hard in getting us towards the front. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what we can achieve in the first race of the year.”
Mark Winterbottom – Car #18
“First Round of the year, I am super pumped and I can’t wait to go racing with all of the crew,” Winterbottom said.
“It’s exciting, Phillip Island was a great Test Day, it’s a very different track to what Adelaide is and I hope what we learnt at Phillip Island will translate into a strong car this weekend.
“I’m really pumped for the first race of the year, it’s a tough one to win, this weekend dictates the champion to see who is a contender and who’s not – bring it on!”
