For more than 50 years Holden has been racing and winning at Bathurst.
And from the very beginning, ACDelco has been part of that winning formula.
When Colin Bond won Bathurst in 1969 driving an HDT Monaro GTS 350, AC spark plugs and filters were used to help get the almost standard road car across the finish line after a gruelling 500 miles.
A decade on, in 1979 the all-conquering Peter Brock and Jim Richards used AC spark plugs and filters in their Torana A9X in a dominant display that saw them win by over six laps, Brock smashing the lap record on the very last lap of the race.
Both the winning Holden Dealer Team Monaro and the Torana proudly carried the AC brand to victory.
Since then, ACDelco products have been used by the majority of the 33 winning Holden teams that have won the Bathurst 500/1000 events.
Fast forward 50 years from Bond’s victory to 2019 and ACDelco are still part the factory Red Bull Holden Racing Team’s winning formula.
With a fresh new livery design for Bathurst this year, the Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowndes #888 & Shane van Gisbergen/Garth Tander #97 Red Bull Holden Racing Team ZB Commodores pay homage to the 1971 Bathurst 500 HDT Torana GTR-XU1.
“The AC Spark Plugs and Filters logo was on all those great HDT era race cars. It’s great to see it make a comeback as part of our Red Bull Holden Racing Team livery for
Bathurst,” Craig Lowndes said.
The traditional red AC logo will also appear at Bathurst on the Bruce Williams TCM Torana SLR5000.
